Singapore Fest to show Iran film ‘Disappearance’

Iran director Ali Asgari’s ‘Disappearance’ is set to compete for the Silver Screen feature award at next month’s Singapore International Film Festival.

Iran rep at the event will vie along with seven other films at SGIFF’s 28th edition running from  November 23 to December 3,  2017.

Among the other contenders include ‘Dragonfly Eyes’ by China’s Xu Bing and Ana Urushadze’s “Scary Mother,” which is a Gorigia production.

SGIFF’s newly installed program director Pimpaka Towira praised selected film, saying, “This year’s festival line-up provides an insight into the talent that permeates the region and showcases the promise of the industry here in Asia.”

“Sara and Hamed wander into the emergency department of a hospital, seeking medical aid after realising Sara is hurt. However, they are bound by a secret which cannot be discovered under any circumstances by the adults who are handling their situation,” a plot summary of the film read.

“‘Disappearance’ is a confident debut befitting its nomination in the Horizons Competition at the Venice Film Festival 2017,” the Singapore fest praised the picture.
